Since the first year of high school that we are waiting and preparing this trip. It’s very weird to be here right now, everything is different, people, the city and culture especially food.
The first thing that caught my attention was the different types of food and the way of eating that Ireland people have. In Uruguay we have lunch at twelve o’clock or raven later, we also eat lunch as we eat dinner, here they only eat a sandwich and they have thirty minutes of lunch, for us that is very strange. Another thing that I realized is that the food here is spicy, they put a lot of seasoning into it. In Uruguay we are used to plain food, but either way it is delicious.
I was surprised at the fact that in the street there are a lot of coffee shops and donuts places that are amazing, I love donuts and hot chocolate, the best of all is the Butler’s Dark hot chocolate, back home it’s not very common to see coffee shops or donuts, but it’s very typical to see bakery shops.
Although I would love to eat something typical from Uruguay, like Dulce de leche, I love the food off Ireland and I would like to stay here more time. It’s a beautiful city!
We went to the famous Celtic nights, where the music and the dancers were incredible, but the best part was the food. We had a menu with a variety of options. The first thing that everyone was curious about was that in every option the potato was included. In Uruguay it is very common to have beef with French fries or hamburger, but for example we saw salmon with mashed potatoes, that was very weird.
At the weekend we went to a castle, which was enormous. When the leader shows is the dining room we saw a gigantic table, and she explained to us that it was very common to use those kind of tables in the past. A very interesting thing that she said was that if there was a pineapple on the table just for decoration, it was a sign of power, because at that time this fruit was very expensive. We enjoyed a lot this trip.
